Kithruwan Slams 157* vs Bangladesh

With Sri Lanka Cricket going into disarray the up and coming will hold more focus as Kithruwan Vithanage’s 157* anchored the Sri Lanka Development Emerging (SLDE) XI innings as they piled on 398/9 in day one of the 3 day practice match against the touring Bangladeshis in Matara today

Kithruwan and Ashan Priyanjan (83) put on 159 for the 5th wicket after the locals found themselves 104/4 in the morning session. Further Lahiru Gamage joined Kithruwan to put on 78 for the 9th wicket before Gamage fell off the penultimate ball of the day.

Vithanage is one of the leading run scorers in the recently concluded limited overs tournament and is currently in prolific form. Earlier in the day, Kumar Sangakkara become a victim of the SLC player lockout as he did not make the final XI. Sangakkara was expected to play his first competitive game since returning from his finger injury sustained in the Australian tour.

For the Bangladeshi’s, Sohag Gazi picked up 5 wickets as he strangled the SLDE innings with regular wickets.
