St. Joseph’s College, Darley Road emerged champions of the All Island Under-17 basketball tournament beating Ananda College, Colombo in the final on Monday.
Ananda had won the under-15 title with the same set of players two years ago and were slightly favourites, but St. Joseph’s were well prepared for the challenge and walked away with a comprehensive 13 point win. The final score was 47-34.
Shivanga de Silva of St. Joseph’s was declared the Best Player of the finals. Yehan Shasara of Ananda College was declared the Best Offensive Player while Shenal Samuel of St. Joseph’s was the Best Defensive Player.
