The prestigious and historic 101st cricket encounter between St. Joseph’s College Colombo and St. Anthony’s College Katugastota will take place on Friday and Saturday (15th and 16th of February 2013) commencing at 10.00am at Darley road.
These two great schools have produced many great cricketers who have made their Alma Mater and the country proud with their brilliant performances on the field. The motivation for this all important encounter is ‘Murali-Vaas Trophy’ which was inaugurated in year 2007 in appreciation of the two legendary cricketers; Left arm speedster Chaminda Vaas of St. Joseph’s and world class spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan of St. Anthony’s.
St. Joseph’s lead the tally with 40 wins and St. Anthony’s have only won on 8 occasions. This time around both teams will be lead by leaders with identical name; Sachin Hewawasam for JOES and Sachin Bulathsinghala for ANTHO. St.Joseph’s after recording their 1st outright win for the season against Moratuwa Vidyalaya last Wednesday will be coming all guns blazing for this crucial encounter. Meanwhile St. Anthony’s will be looking to dominate the proceedings as they did against D.S Senanayake College last weekend.
