A match winning 109 runs for the second wicket between skipper Jehan Mubarak and national discard Chamara Kapugedara earned Wayamba a fighting two-wicket win over Kandurata-Uva Combined team in their inter-provincial cricket match played at Moors grounds yesterday.

Mubarak who is probably in his best form struck 81 off 57 balls including three sixes and 13 boundaries while Kapugedara made a 48 ball 68 with six sixes and five boundaries as they chased down 203 to win in 31.4 overs. Mubarak and Kapugedara took them within touching distance of the target scoring 172 for 2 in the 21st over but suffered minor collapse with the fall of Kapugedara  in the 21st over.  He was soon followed by Mubarak who was trapped leg before off Rajeeva Weerasinghe with the total on 178.

They lost four wickets for just one run as Kandurata-Uva Combined came back strongly to trouble the batsmen with a fiery spell of bowling. Rajeeva Weerasinghe and Dulanjana Mendis claimed three wicket apiece  but could not prevent a Wayamba win. Kandurata-Uva combined made 203 all out, batting first with Thilan Samaraweera top scoring with 48. Nuwan Pradeep and Tharindu Kaushal picked up three wickets apiece.
