Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has strengthened its lineup for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 by adding seaming all-rounder Janith Liyanage to the squad, increasing the team size to 17 players.

The announcement comes as the Lankan Lions gear up for the T20I tournament, set to run from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates.

The 30-year-old all-rounder has already traveled to Dubai alongside star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who is returning from a hamstring injury and will link up with the team.

The inclusion of Liyanage adds depth to Sri Lanka’s seaming all-rounder options, complementing the likes of Dasun Shanaka, and Chamika Karunaratne in a squad led by captain Charith Asalanka.

The Sri Lankan team arrived in Dubai today, fresh from a white-ball series in Zimbabwe, and will be based in Abu Dhabi during the group stage. They are set to kick off their Asia Cup campaign against Bangladesh on September 13 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Sri Lanka, placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong, will also face Hong Kong on September 15 and Afghanistan on September 18.
