Battle of the Hindus, is a cricket encounter between Jaffna Hindu College and Colombo Hindu College which commenced in 1982. Due to the issues prevailing in the country, the match was not scheduled in some years. Battle of the Hindus was held on 21 and 22 of March 2014 at Jaffna Hindu College Ground with the presidents of Old Boys Associations being Chief Guest for the match.
Jaffna Hindu College won the toss and decided to field and Colombo Hindu College put on a reasonable batting display to end up 200 all out in 39 overs for the first innings. A.Yasodran scored 60 runs off 59 balls, and N.Krishanth scored 42 runs for 39 balls. In a good individual bowling performance Mathushan from Jaffna Hindu College scalped 4 wickets and T.banukopan and V. Sinthujan each took three wickets a piece.
Jaffna Hindu College in reply scored 274 runs for the 1st innings. G.Mathusan adding to his good bowling performance scored 62 runs from 73 balls while, R.Kajanan 34 runs, Rukshman 32 runs and Kalkopan and Banu 28 runs helped the cause. Yasodaran from Colombo Hindu did most of the damage taking 4 wickets. Jaffna Hindu College lead the first innings by 74 runs.
For 2nd innings Colombo Hindu college were controlled to 97 runs by some powerful fielding from Jaffna Hindu College. There after Jaffna Hindu College reached the target of 24 runs easily to win the trophy by 9 wickets.
