Once again proving their supremacy over the international school’s athletic field, Lyceum International School Wattala, affiliated to the Lyceum Group of Schools, walked away with the Championship trophy at the International Schools Athletic Championship (ISAC) 2016, for the eighth consecutive year and for the ninth time.

ISAC 2016 was held on the 4th, 5th and 6th of March at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama from 8:00 am to 6:00pm each day. The event was organized by Lyceum International School Nugegoda.

 One day down, three new records have been set 

The third day was the most awaited day from the beginning of this meet; each individual was diligently awaiting the distribution of awards to find out the results.

Even though Gateway College Colombo was able to set the most number of records for this year, Lyceum International School Wattala was able to dominate the athletic field from day one by having the highest number of points, thus winning the overall championship with a remarkable score of 981 points.

Gateway College Colombo; being two points away from grabbing the championship was placed as runners up with a total score of 979 points.

Lyceum International School Panadura , received the third place, with a score of 504 points.

Lyceum international School, Nugegoda won the fourth place, scoring 481.

Meanwhile Lyceum International School, Ratnapura won the fifth place with a score of 414 points.

Both the opening and the closing ceremony were graced by the Kandyan dance troupe of Lyceum International School Nugegoda.

The trophies were awarded by Hon. Minister of Port and Shipping Arjuna Ranathunga, who captained the Sri Lankan Cricket team to victory at the Cricket World Cup in 1996.

ISAC 2016 was further graced by the presence of the Founder of Lyceum Group of School, the Hon. Minister of Higher Education- Mohan Lal Grero, the Chairperson of ISAC 2016- Mrs. Kumari Grero, Principal of Lyceum International School- Ms. Wenuri Hettiarachchi, Director- Mr. Nikitha Grero, the Director-General of ISAC 2016- Mr. Palitha Jayathillaka, the principals of the competing international schools and representatives from TIISL.

Each athlete present, displayed true sportsmanship, honesty and dedication while striving hard to make their alma mater victorious.
