Dan Mousley and Lewis Goldsworthy destroyed the Sri Lanka U19s to win the Plate Final at the ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa, taking victory by 152 runs.

After Sri Lanka asked England to bat first at Benoni, Dan Mousley opened the innings and brought up his maiden Youth ODI century during a 142-run third-wicket partnership with Jack Haynes, helping England to achieve a formidable target.
Sri Lanka’s decision to bowl first backfired, as the England lower order finished strong at a total of 279/7 at the end of 50 overs. Left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka and Dilum Sudeera shared two wickets apiece in Sri Lanka’s bowling effort.
Defending a comfortable total of 280, left-arm spinner Lewis Goldsworthy made half of the breakthroughs needed for England, picking up the first of his five wickets in the innings; while the rest of the other Lankans ran themselves out. Sri Lanka looked in control only when opener Kamil Mishara and no 03. Ravindu Rasantha added a quick 46 for the 2nd wicket.
However, the hope of an epic chase quickly faded away for Sri Lanka as 3 batsmen ran themselves out after Kamil Mishara’s dismissal.

The only fighting knock for Sri Lanka came from the bat of Ravindu Rasantha, who battled alone with an 81-ball 66. Interestingly, Rasantha has become the highest runs scorer of the tournament as of now, with 286 runs in 6 innings at an average of 71.5.
With this defeat, the Sri Lanka U19s finished the ICC U19 World Cup 2020 at the 10th place, which is the lowest they have ever dropped in the World Cup placings since the origin of the ICC U19 World Cup in 1988.
