Groups and format announced for Men’s Asia Cup 2023

The Asian Cricket Council have announced the cricket calendar for the region for 2023 and 2024.   

As per the announced schedule, the Men’s Asia Cup 2023 will be held in September with the participation of six teams, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Qualifier 1.

Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are in Group 1 while the defending champions Sri Lanka are grouped alongside Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Group 2. The tournament will be played in the ODI format providing opportunities for teams to prepare for ODI World Cup which will be played during October-November this year.

The ACC calendar for Sri Lanka in 2023 is set to kick off with the Women’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup which has been slated to be held in June. In addition to that, the Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup (50 Overs), Men’s ODI Asia Cup, Men’s U19 Asia Cup, Women’s T20 Asia Cup, Men’s U19 Asia Cup and Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup (20 Overs) will be held in next two years.
