Hong Kong 7’s (28-30 March)

Sri Lanka last played in Hong Kong 7’s in 2009 when they were invited by the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU.  However, the tuskers made the history in 1984 winning the Bowl championship beating Thailand 16-10 under Hisham Abdeen. Sri Lanka was a regular team to participate in this tournament since 1976 to late 80’s. Since this event became an IRB 7’s World Series in the 90’s, Sri Lanka had to compete in the qualifiers and be the top 2 in Asia in order to play in this series. However this time Sri Lanka go through as the third Asian nation to directly play in this year’s prestigious Hong Kong 7’s.
