Rohitha Fernando, Head Coach of New Youngs FC has been suspended by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL).

According to FFSL sources he has been suspended for three games and fined Rs.10,000 by the FFSL due to his unprofessional conduct during the Dialog Champions League Super 8 encounter between New Youngs FC and Solid SC.

Rohitha got into a heated argument with the referees and Police close to half time and during half time after disagreeing with a few decisions made by the referee.

The decision prompted an angry reaction from New Youngs SC coach who left his technical area to voice his opinions to the referee. The referee then ordered the expulsion of Mr. Fernando however as the coach did not comply with the referee’s request, the game was stalled for a significant amount of time until the match commissioner and police intervened.

The suspension means that Rohitha Fernando will not be allowed on the New Youngs’ bench for the rest of their matches in the Dialog Champions League Super 8.
