The U-14 Rugby match ended in a stalemate as both teams scored two unconverted tries, while the U-16 game went in favour of Isipathana.
It was the U-14 game that kicked off first amdist the scorching sun as the youngsters in both team’s showed excellent awareness, playing to their team’s strengths.
However, the Zahirian lads were the first to score. After taking a quick penalty, the winger passed it on to his fullback who touched down in the far corner putting Zahira in the lead early on.
Although Zahira led with their five pointer in the first-half, the second half was dominated by Isipathana. The junior Green Machines went onto score two unconverted tries in reply to Zahira’s one try in the second half, ending the game in a dead tie.

The U-16 match saw the Pathanians showing their form as they vanquished the junior Zahirians with four tries in which they converted two.
Zahira was left scoreless as the visitors solid defense was on point. Zahira was weak under the highball and in their defense on the wings. Thus, capitalising on the opportunities created, Isipathana defeated Zahira convincingly.
