The boys from Nugegoda got off to a flier when Ometh De Silva gave them the lead early on in the 2nd minute. The Panadura boys, just as in their first match, continued to suffer defensively as LIS Nugegoda added two more goals through Hamdan Akram and Kavindu Jayasekera, ending the first half with a 3-0 advantage.

LIS Nugegoda continued the second half on the front foot, dominating possession easily, before Abdurrahaman Iqbal, found the back of the net in the 41st minute to increase their advantage. Hamdan, whose performance was deemed man of the match worthy, broke through the defense yet again just 2 minutes after their last goal, giving LIS Nugegoda their 5th goal and scoring his second of the game.

British School in Colombo v Gateway College, Kandy

British, as previously mentioned came into this encounter following a draw against Lyceum Nugegoda, while Gateway Kandy came in following a big win against Lyceum Panadura. It was British however who struck first when in the 7th minute Luca Supumahetti found the back of the net. This blow seemingly woke up the boys from Kandy as less than 60 seconds later Ameen Kazni struck back, equalizing for his side.

The first half was a tough battle but right at the end, Hayaki Ramanayaka got British back in the lead, ending the first half 2-1.

Hayaki continued to ride the first half momentum as he scored his brace in the 45th minute to add a cushion to their lead. Ammar Amanulla pulled one back for Gateway in the last minute, but it was too little too late for the boys from Kandy.

Gateway Kandy, Colombo International School…

Elizabeth Moir School v Lyceum International School, Wattala

Elizabeth Moir came into this battle following a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Gateway Colombo, while Lyceum Wattala were playing their first match of the tournament, having been awarded a walkover in their original 1st game due to CIS Kandy pulling out of the tournament. Moir needed at least a point from this match to remain in contention of qualifying for the next round.

The first half ended in a dull 0-0, with both sides playing equally well, not giving their opponents a decent chance. The second half had a few better chances for each side, and in the 44th minute Muhamed Fawme broke the deadlock to give the boys from Wattala the lead. Moir, essentially knocked out of the competition at this point, went on the attack desperately seeking an equalizer to give them a much needed point.

In the final minute of the match however, with the score still 1-0 to Lyceum Wattala, it looked to be over for Moir, until, against the run of play, literally with the last kick of the match, Tarin Wijeyasinghe found the back of the net, equalizing for his school, with their fate in the competition now in the hands of the Lyceum Wattala v Gateway Colombo clash.
