Opening batsman Dylan Fernandopulle of SJC and Nimesh Fernando of St. Sebastians shared the limelight on day two during their inter-school match which ended today.
St. Sebastians having ended day one on a high after a mind boggling spell by their left arm fast bowler Anuk Fernando began day two on 133 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. The Moratuwa team could not make use of the start on day one as they managed to score only 190 runs in their first innings.
The home team could not come to grips with the wicket with none of the batters being able to perform during day two. The highest scores came from the bat of Sangeeth Cooray who scored 18 runs.
For the Josephians fast bowler Rajindu Rodrigo bagged 2 wickets for 31 runs while left arm leg spinner Moditha Weerasinghe ended with figures of 3/43. The Josephians in their 2nd innings managed to better their performance with the bat scoring 187 runs.
The Josephians were spearheaded by a fine batting performance by opening batsman Dylan Fernandopulle who scored 70 runs. Priyamal Perera was also amongst the runs scoring 35.
For the home team the first innings wicket takers, off spinner Nimesh Fernando and Anuk Fernando continued to trouble the Josephian batsmen. Off spinner Nimesh claimed 5/53 while left arm fast bowler Anuk took 2/43. The two bowlers managed to take 17 Josephian wickets during the macth which.
