St Joseph’s College VS DS Senanayake College

St Joseph’s had to settle for a first innings victory against DSS in their traditional encounter at Maradana. DSS resumed play on the second day with 69 on board but six batsmen already back in the hut. Havin Perera and Ruchira Ekanayake cleaned up the remaining 4 wickets for just 57 runs. Ruchira took a five-for as DSS got bundled out for just 126 runs.

The visitors were asked to follow on but this time around they managed to put up a better batting performance. Dasun Demasha scored an unbeaten 114 off just 112 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes to help his team bat out the second day. DSS were 335 for 7 at stumps on day 2. Skipper Harin Cooray bagged 4 wickets for the Joes.

St Peter’s College VS Maris Stella College

The Peterites cruised into an easy 10 wicket victory in their traditional encounter against Maris Stella College at Bambalapitiya. Maris Stella resumed the second day’s play on 94 for 3. The Peterite bowling attack, led by Miflal Ameen, cleaned up the visitors for just 166 runs in 62 overs. Lasith Croospulle top scored for Maris Stella with 43 runs. Ameen’s figures stood at 5 for 35 in the first innings.

The visitors were asked to follow but they couldn’t better their first innings score as they were bowled out for just 151 runs in 44.1 overs. Croospulle was yet again the top scorer for Maris Stella with 44 but the star of the match was Miflal Ameen who bagged four wickets in the second innings. The Peterites came on to bat with a target of 28 and they got over the line without losing any wickets.

St Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya VS Bandaranayake College

St Sebastian’s registered an easy 7 wicket victory against Bandaranayake in their traditional encounter. Sebastian’s resumed play at 174 for 6 and were cleaned up for 219 in the morning session. Rashmika Mendis top scored with 71 runs while Hachitha Hemapriya took 4 wickets for 60 runs.

Bandaranayake came on to bat for their second innings but couldn’t bat out the day as they were bowled out for just 142 runs. Ashen Charuka picked up a five-for for St Sebastian’s. With a target of just 66 runs to get, the home side took 16.4 to get over the line with 7 wickets in hand.
