Dilshan’s all-round heroics put Sri Lanka Legends top of the table

Tillakaratne Dilshan’s all-round show against England Legends helped Sri Lanka Legends defeating them by 6 wickets and reach the top of the points table of the Road Safety World Series.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka Legends’ skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan invited England Legends to take the first lease of the wicket. England got off to a terrible start losing the first 4 wickets for just 8 runs in 6.4 overs.

The off-spin of skipper Dilshan was too hot to handle as England’s four top-order batsmen were dismissed by him. England continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and eventually restricted for just 78 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Dilshan was the star with the ball for Sri Lanka Legends as he managed to take 4 scalps for just 6 runs. The left-arm spinner Rangana Herath gave him good support at the other end picking up 2 wickets for 17 runs. 

Chasing 79 runs to win, Sri Lankan Legends went all guns blazing with the bat expecting to reach the target in 7.4 overs and end up as the number one in the points table. Things went well on Sri Lanka’s side as they were able to achieve the target in 7.3 overs thanks to Dilshan’s blistering knock of 61 runs off 26 balls which included 11 fours and a six.
