At the end of another day at of Singer Schools U17 Division A Cricket Isipathana, Peters, Kingswood & Sebastian managed to secure victories.

Isipathana College, Colombo vs Maris Stella College, Negambo

It was a perfect sunny day in Colombo on 23rd June 2018 when Isipathana College met Maris Stella College Negambo for their first round match in group D Singer schools U17 Division 1 tournament played at BRC grounds. The home team Isipathana College winning the toss and selecting to bat first, scored 220 runs in a 50 over match. Theyindu Dickwella scored a brilliant century. Shenaz Fernando grabbed 6 wickets for 43 runs to register the best bowling performance of the day.

Chasing the target, the Maristonians were bowled out for 143 runs in 35.2 overs. Shiran Perera’s fighting knock of 71 runs was not enough to secure the victory and Pathana came out on top by 77 runs.

St. Peter’s College Colombo vs Piliyandala MMV

The match went to the last ball as St Peter’s managed a thrilling 2-run victory in their game against Piliyandala Central. Visitors St. Peter’s team won the toss but scored only 161 runs as they were dismissed in 39.1 overs. Risika Santhush was the top scorer for Peter’s with 59 runs and Ruchira Adhikari shone with 4 wickets just for 15 runs for the boys from Piliyandala. The hosts battled till the last ball but could only manage 159 runs for 8 wickets. Ruchira Adhikari showed his colors with the bat as well, scoring 33 runs but it was not enough to take his team to victory.

It was a low scoring match at the Godigamuwa grounds where Sri Sumangala hosted Kingswood at Singer Schools U17 Division 1 Group ‘H’ match. After winning the toss Sumangala invited Kingswood to bat first and bowled them out for 156 runs in 42.5 overs in a 50 over match. Chamara and Shimel from Sumangala shared 8 wickets between them by grabbing 4 wickets each. Sumangala’s Parabola target was 148 runs to win in 43 overs. But they could score only 116 runs all out in 32.3 overs. The lone warrior for Sumangala was Madushanka Abeykoon who scored 54 runs. Once again proving it was a good day for bowlers, Navodaya took 4 wickets for just 18 runs and Ometh took 3 wickets for 20 runs. Kings won the match comprehensively by 32 runs.

It was another shortened 36 over match at the Colts ground where Lumbini College hosted St. Sebastian’s College in their Singer Schools U17 Division 1 Group ‘C’ match. After winning the toss the Seba boys invited Lumbini to bat first and managed to score only 96 runs for 9 wickets in their 36 overs. Thadula De Silva took 4 wickets for 25 runs and Nadeera Fernando took 3 wickets for 23 runs for Sebastians. It was an easy chase down for the visiting team, passing the margin at 32.4 overs losing only 5 wickets. Nethul Rajapaksha was outstanding with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 37 runs.
