Two more matches of the National Super League 4-day tournament commenced today at Colombo and Pallekele. 

Dambulla vs Colombo

Minod Bhanuka, the skipper of Dambulla won the toss and chose to bat first at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. Ashan Priyanjan and Chamindu Wijesinghe stroked half-centuries as Dambulla posted 277 runs in 76.3 overs.

Experienced campaigner Priyanjan top scored with 61 runs off 88 balls with 8 fours and a six while Wijesinghe added an unbeaten 54 runs off 98 balls with 9 fours. The off-spinner Lakshitha Rasanjana was the pick of the bowlers for Colombo as he snared 3 scalps for 78 runs while seamers Nisala Tharaka and Kasun Rajitha chipped in with taking 2 wickets each.

In reply, Colombo got off to a decent start as they posted 46/0 at stumps on day one. The opening batter Nipun Dananjaya remained unbeaten on 24 runs.

Kandy vs Jaffna

Jaffna skipper Sadeera Samarawickrama won the toss and invited the opposition to take the first lease of the wicket at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Kandy had a decent outing with the bat on day one as they managed to post 243/5 at the end of the first day’s play. The in-form batter Oshada Fernando and Lahiru Udara scored half-centuries while all-rounder Sahan Arachchige remained unbeaten on 41 runs,

The seaming all-rounder Santhush Gunathilake was the pick of the bowlers for Jaffna as he grabbed 2 wickets for 30 runs.
