Sri Lanka middle-order batsman Dhananjaya de Silva has been ruled out of the ongoing Test series against South Africa after he injured his thigh on the day 01 of the first Test at Centurion.

Day 1: Chandimal, Dhananjaya put Sri Lanka ahead in the race

De Silva was batting fluently against the South African attack and was on 79 when he suffered a ‘Thigh Strain,’ and was stretchered from the field. After the scans, it is revealed that the player has sustained a grade 2 tear on his thigh.

According to SLC, De Silva won’t be able to play for about 02 weeks which means he will miss the two-Test against South Africa and may miss the upcoming Test series against England as well.

This will be a major blow for Sri Lanka as it is now the fourth injury concern for Sri Lanka squad.

  1. Oshada Fernando – Ankle
  2. Angelo Mathews – Hamstring
  3. Suranga Lakmal – Hamstring
  4. Dhananjaya De Silva – Thigh
