Colts vs Chilaw

The pendulum kept swinging both ways as the match between Colts and Chilaw Marians ended on day two with both teams in with a chance of an outright win.

Prabath Jayasuriya’s six wicket haul reduced Chilaw to 162 all-out before Colts themselves ran into trouble reaching 150/6 at stumps. A seven run first innings lead meant Colts led by 157 runs and had four wickets in hand at close while Hashan Dumindu made 57.

Colts’ first innings was closed out earlier in the day as the chief tormentor with the ball for Chilaw right throughout the tournament, Malinda Pushpakumara, worked his magic once again capturing five wickets.

SSC vs NCC

The pick of the game of the week, continued to head towards an exciting finish as NCC replied with 298 after SSC were bowled out for 347 earlier in the day.

Angelo Perera continued his good run of form with a timely century for NCC while Mahela Udawatte chipped in with 46.

The most refreshing performance witnessed at the game was a stunning spell of fast bowling by Dhammika Prasad who has been struggling for form since his return after a long injury lay off, as he dismantled the NCC top order before ending with four scalps.

BRC hit back to end day two in a better position as Deshan Dias’ 72 helped them to a 216 run lead with three wickets in hand.

Ragama CC vs SLPACC

Sri Lanka Ports Authority ended day two on top as they reached 226/4 at stumps thanks to half centuries from Nick Compton and Yohan De Silva. The former England Test opener was struggling for form after a half century earlier in the season, but looked in decent touch during his 169 ball 62.

Earlier in the day Chanaka Komasaru captured a five wicket haul to reduce Ragama CC to 269 all-out, while Maduka Liyanapathiranage captured three.

Bloomfield vs Tamil Union

Bloomfield put up a strong first innings total of 323 al-out on the back of a brilliant century by stylish right handed bat Ramesh Mendis.

The opening day’s play was “all about the Mendis’” as Jeevan Mendis captured six wickets for Tamil Union with his right arm leg spinners.

CCC vs Army

Another century from Lasith Abeyratne helped CCC amass 333 all out on the opening day against Army SC. Wicket keeper opening batsman Malindu Maduranga also hit an explosive half century to make sure CCC got off to a great start.

Asela Gunaratne also returned for Army SC as they continue to fight to stay in the tier A, while Dushan Vimukthi captured a five wicket haul for the soldiers.

Moors vs Badureliya

Badureliya who are desperate for a win to stay in the top division, ended day one on 124/2 after restricting Moors to 214 all-out.

Tilaksha Sumanasiri hit a half century for Moors while Savith Priyan and Dilesh Gunaratne captured two wickets apiece.

For Badureliya, it was their centurion from last wicket Salinda Ushan who made an unbeaten 58* once again, while right arm seamer Shiran Fernando’s opening burst produced two wickets.
