Mohomed Issadeen scored a staggering five goals against Thihariya Youth as Army routed their opponents 7-1 at Sri Bodhi grounds in Gampaha.

Last year’s Dialog Champions League golden boot winner Issadeen is in prime form and has already taken his tally past 20 goals which is miles ahead of his competition.

Issadeen who guided Thihariya Youth as a coach to the Division I Championship last year showed no mercy at them, completed his hat-trick just after halftime and then some against an out of sorts Thihariya Youth side.

However it took Army 25 minutes to get on the score board through Issadeen but after they did there was no stopping them. Issadeen added his second in the 39th minute heading into halftime.

Issadeen scored another two in the 55th and 64th minutes while Madushan De Silva added the fifth soon after the restart from the fourth goal. Issadeen completed his fifth in the 79th minute.

M.Rajsheron scored a consolation goal in the 83rd minute but it was to no avail as Thihariya Youth’s misery was compounded when Rajsheron scored an own goal minutes later.

Tonye’s double give Nandimithra three points

All four goals were scored in an exhilarating opening 28 minutes as Nandimithra beat Saunders 3-1 at the Kelaniya Football Complex.

Daniel Tonye scored first for Nandimithra in the 10th minute before Chaminda Sampath doubled the lead in the 14th minute.

Saunders pegged a goal back in the 24th minute through Lahiru Perera but Tonye restored the two goal cushion four minutes later.

Fazal and Rifnaz tame the Lions

Goals from Mohomed Fazal and Mohomed Rifnaz in each half gave Renown a 2-0 win away from home against the Up-Country Lions at the Jayathilaka Stadium.

The Lions who have been performing well compared to their debut season under their Serbian coach started off brightly. Against the run of play Mohomed Fazal gave the lead for the visitors in the 22nd minute with a wonderful effort.

Both sides played attractive football creating chances and entertaining the crowd but had to go into halftime 1-0.

After the break the Lions and Renown played expansive end to end football and as the game ticked on tired legs created space which the attackers from either side took gleefully.

As the Lions piled men forward in search of an equalizer Renown caught them on the counter and Rifnaz put the game to bed in with the second goal in the 85th minute.

Police leave it late against Pelicans

Police SC left it late against Pelicans with two goals in the final 10 minutes settling their nerves to a 3-1 win at Police Park.

Police scored their opener in the 11th minute but there on in it was a close game with both sides creating chances but neither could capitalize on them.

With the match heading into the final 10 minutes Police fans had nervous looks on their faces after their side had given away winning positions in previous matches.

However those nerves settled by Nilantha Pathirana who scored two goals in the space of 5 minutes to secure a valuable three points.
