Speaking on the franchise’s philosophy, the co-owners emphasized a long-term commitment to elevating the team’s profile through analytical squad building and deep grassroots development in the Southern Province.
“We enter LPL 2026 with a definitive strategy tailored around high-performance execution and structural balance,” stated the ownership group. “Our pre-draft retentions and direct signings reflect our core philosophy: blending explosive international match-winners with top-tier local talent. We are fully committed to providing the infrastructure, data analytics, and management backing required to bring the LPL trophy home to Galle.”
The Gallants have already locked in a formidable core prior to entering the draft room, securing the services of charismatic all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as captain, lethal local speedster Eshan Malinga, South African batting anchor Rassie van der Dussen, and Bangladesh batter Litton Das.
Addressing his role as skipper, Dasun Shanaka expressed immense confidence in the management’s direction:
“The clarity that the new ownership and coaching staff have brought to the table is exactly what a championship-winning team needs. We have structural blueprints for every scenario in the draft room today. Our primary focus is to secure specific skill sets that complement our retained core, ensuring we have the tactical depth to dominate on all surfaces.”
Assistant and Fast Bowling Coach Chamila Gamage highlighted the technical focus for the upcoming selections:
“With Pubudu Dassanayake leading the tactical think-tank as Head Coach, our training regimes and asset targets are strictly mapped out. We already have an exceptional foundation in our bowling and all-round departments. Today, we look forward to adding the perfect complementary pieces to construct a highly adaptable, resilient outfit.”
The Lanka Premier League 2026 Player Draft will commence at 1:30 PM today in Colombo, where the Galle Gallants management will finalize their full squad from a highly competitive pool of local and international talent.
