The 15th match of the Lanka Premier League 2020 between Jaffna Stallions and the Dambulla Viiking was called off due to the rain and the two teams shared one point each.

The skipper of Jaffna Stallions Thisara Perera won the toss and elected to bowl first to take advantage of the dew factor later on. Former Sri Lanka U19 skipper Charith Asalanka and 25-year-old Sri Lanka cap Sadeera Samarawickrama debuted as both teams made two changes each.

Team Changes

  • Dambulla Viiking | In – S Samarawickrama, L Madushanka | Out – U Tharanga, S Tyagi
  • Jaffna Stallions | In – U Shinwari, C Asalanka | Out – C de Silva, D de Silva

Surprisingly, Viiking had rested their highest scorer of the last game, Upul Tharanga who made 77 in their 9-run win against Galle Gladiators. His replacement Samarawickrama didn’t last long in the middle as he departed for just 3 runs in his LPL debut courtesy of brilliant bowling by Suranga Lakmal.

Viiking lost two more wickets before the rain interrupted the game when the score was 42 for 3 after 7 overs. From there on, the weather didn’t let the game continue as umpires called off the match around 10.25.

The next matchday of the tournament will be another doubleheader as Kandy Tuskers, Jaffna Stallions, and Galle Gladiators, Dambulla Viiking will go head-to-head on Wednesday (09th December) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
