D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo registered a 6-wicket win over Mahanama College, Colombo to clinch their 2nd T20 encounter played today (7th June) at CCC Grounds, Colombo.
Having been asked to bat first, Mahanama College posted a competitive total of 164 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Number three batter Venura Kaveethra led the scoring with a well-compiled 49 runs off 37 deliveries, striking one boundary and three sixes.
Mahanama College received valuable late-order contribution from wicketkeeper-batter Eshan Withanage, who played an aggressive cameo of 31 runs off just 15 balls, including two fours and two sixes.
For D.S. Senanayake College, Shaanal Gamage and Chithun Baddage were the standout bowlers, claiming two wickets apiece to restrict the opposition to a chaseable target.
In reply, D.S. Senanayake College successfully chased down the target in the final over, reaching the required total with six wickets in hand.
The foundation for the chase was laid by opener Shaanal Gamage, who produced a breathtaking innings of 44 runs from only 18 balls. His knock featured one four and six towering sixes, while maintaining a remarkable strike rate of 244.44.
