S.Benedict’s College got a resounding win against high riding Overseas School of Colombo with a 3-0 win at Pelawatte OSC home grounds.

The short pass tactical plays of Ben’s were well read by OSC defense line and the Bens forwards could not find the net till the half time in the Kotmale Chox U 19 Football Championship.

After the break Bens started attacking with a different style of play adding muscular to the attacking mid fielding positions and started scoring in the 52nd minute through Jude Beston Fernando to have an early lead in the second half.

Then again Jude followed up with another spectacular to make it 2-0 at the 78th minutes and just 2 minutes later even before the defense of OSC settles they added the 3rd one in the 80th minute to make it 3-0 by Malinda Nimantha to seal the victory.

S.Peter’s sends Lyceum International packing.

St. Peter’s College met Lyceum at the Football Training Center, Baddagane for their 3rd Kotmale Chox Championship match.

In the first half, though the Peterites dominated the game, they managed to only score two goals as they missed out on many golden opportunities. The Peterites took the lead midway through the first half when Mohamed Afam dribbled through the Lyceum defense and neatly crossed the ball to Isuru Sampath who had just to tap the ball into the nets. The Peterites scored their 2nd goal through Michael Andrew ten minutes before the first half.

After taking stock during the break, the Peterites played with skill and determination. Peshala Karunaratne, returning home after National duty and playing his 1st college match for the season made a few strategic moves not leaving room for the Lyceum Goal-Keeper to save the 3rd goal for St. Peter’s, just after five minutes of commencement of the 2nd half. From there on the Peterites held control over the opposition penalty area.

The fourth goal came through Isuru Sampath, the fifth from Peshala Karunaratne and the sixth a beautiful left footer from Mohamed Afam.. The last two goals came from Isuru Sampath who took his total to four goals in this match. The match ended with St. Peter’s beating Lyceum International by 8 goals to Nil.
