Club Cricket Summary – Denuwan Rajakaruna and Milinda Siriwardene struck tons on a gloomy Friday

Moors wicket-keeper batsman Denuwan Rajakaruna and Badureliya skipper Milinda Siriwardene struck majestic tons on the first day of the third week in the SLC Premier League Tournament. Many games were delayed to commence due to overnight rain and few games ended prematurely due to bad light. 

 

Badureliya vs Colts 

Milinda Siriwardene remained unbeaten on 107 in 162 as Badureliya took the upper hand against the strong Colts bowling attack at Surrey Village, Maggona. 

Badureliya – 214/5 in 63 overs: Milinda Siriwardene 107*, Suresh Niroshan 40, Banuka Rajapakshe 3/55. 

 

Moors vs Chilaw Marians 

Denuwan Rajakaruna’s superb innings of 143 captivated the opening day as Moors posted a magnificent 355 at R. Premadasa Stadium. 

Moors SC – 355 all out in 89.4 overs: Denuwan Rajakaruna 143, Kosala Kulasekara 60, Chanaka Komasaru 3/133, Scott Borthwick 2/34. 

 

Tamil Union vs NCC

Hefty contributions from the tail helped Tamil Union reach a competitive score at the end of day one at P. Sara Oval against NCC. 

Tamil Union – 247/9 in 76 overs: Nisala Tharaka 55, Rumesh Buddika 41, Chanaka Welagedara 32*, Tharindu Kaushal 3/63, Jehan Mubarak 2/35.

 

Bloomfield vs SL Air Force

Off-spinner Suraj Randiv and fast-bowler Lahiru Madusanka shared 9 wickets to rattle the Airmen at Katunayake.

SL Ports Authority vs SSC

SL Ports Authority slightly ended day one on top as 15 wickets fell in less than 85 overs at NCC grounds.

SSC – 185 all out in 39.2 overs: Danushka Gunathilake 46, Kavindu Kulasekara 23, Madushanka Ekanayake 4/51, Malinda Pushpakumara 3/39.

SL Ports Authority – 160/5 in 44 overs: Mahela Udawatta 50, Sachithra Serasinghe 32, Binura Fernando 2/44, Charith Jayampathi 2/49. 

 

Saracens vs CCC

Saracens bowled out the experienced CCC batting unit for 181 as they took the upper hand on day one at Maitland Crescent. 

CCC – 181 all out in 49.5 overs: Hasantha Fernando 48, Greg Smith 32, Rajith Priyan 4/69, Buddika Sanjeewa 3/44. 

Saracens – 132/4 in 38 overs: Gamindu Kanishka 60, Umesh Karunarathne 31*, Arosh Janoda 2/22.
