here’s a recap on few matches which took place in the SLC Tier A Premier League today.

Badureliya vs Galle CC

Badureliya got a first innings lead of 88 runs at stumps on Day 2 in their match against Galle CC at Kaluthara. They resumed play with 33 runs on board for the loss of 2 wickets. Skipper Sriyan Silva and Sahan Wijerathne added 129 runs for the 3rd wickets. Sahan was dismissed for 56 while the skipper top scored with 85 runs. However a vital 67 run knock by middle order batsman Nadeera Nawela helped them go past Galle’s first innings total. Veteran Sanjeewa Weerakoon was the pick of the bowlers for Galle with a 5-for. At stumps they were 306 for 8

Early on, Galle SC posted 218 all out with half centuries from Nilushan Nonis and Damitha Hunukumbura.

BRC vs Ragama CC

BRC were in a spot of bother on 56 runs lead in their second innings with only 3 wickets in hand against Ragama CC at BRC Grounds. Ragama resumed play at 69 for 2 and they went on to post 254 all out for their first innings. Roshen Silva put up gritty performance with the bat by scoring a well composed 91. Janith Liyanage made a valuable contribution of 44 in the top order. For the home side Thilakarathne Sampath bagged top figures of 5 for 98. 

BRC had a bad start to their second innings as they lost 2 quick wickets early on. A handy partnership of 60 runs between Bhanuka Rajapaksha and Rumesh Buddika took them to a comfortable position but after the fall those two players they collapsed. At stumps on day 2 they were 116 for 7.

Early on, BRC were bowled out for 194 in their first innings with Amila Aponsu taking 5 wickets and Sahan Nanayakkara taking 3 for Ragama.

Chilaw Marians VS SSC

Chilaw Marians reached a 2nd innings lead of 265 runs at stumps on day 2 in their match against SSC at Katunayake. SSC resumed play at 75 for 4. Dasun Shanaka was the first to fall for 48 and the rest followed cheaply. Ramesh Mendis fought his way to 53 but he was left stranded at one end while the other fell apart. Ultimately SSC was bowled out for 179 runs. Malinda Pushpakumara bagged 7 wickets for Chilaw Marians which made a big difference in the match. 

At stumps on day 2, Chilaw Marians were 251 for 7. Thikshila De Silva was unbeaten on 60 and Sachithra Serasinghe and Shehan Jayasuriya contributed with half centuries in the top order. 

Early on, Jeffrey Vandersay’s five wicked haul helped SSC clean up Chilaw Marians for 193 in their first innings.

SL Army vs Colts

Army was on the driving seat at stumps on day 2 with a second innings lead of 414 against Colts at Colts Grounds. Colts resumed play at 51 for 5 and they lost the remaining 5 wickets for just 61 runs. Nuwan Liyanapathirana took 3 wickets while Seekuge Prasanna, Dushan Vimukthi and Viraj Pushpakumara took 2 wickets each for the soldiers. In reply at stumps on day 2, Army were 229 for 3 with an unbeaten century by Leo Francisco. 

Early on, Army posted 297 all out for their first innings with half centuries from Dushan Vimukthi, Heshan Liyanage and Seekuge Prasanna. Charith Sudaraka bagged a five-for for Colts.

Moors were still trailing by 303 runs with only 2 wickets in hand in their first innings against CCC at Moors Grounds. Visitors resumed play with 443 for 7. Lasith Abeyaratna scored an unbeaten 156 to help them post 560 all out for their first innings. Ashan Priyanjan scored 124 for CCC on Day 1. 

At stumps on day 2, Moors were 257 for 8 in 62 overs. Nilanka Sandakan was unbeaten on 58 for the home side while Dilshan Munaweera bagged 3 wickets for the visitors.

Tamil Union vs NCC

Tamil Union took a first innings lead of 127 against NCC on day 2 at the P Sara Stadium. Tamil Union resumed play with 70 for 1. Sithara Gimhan was dismissed 10 runs short of a century but Jeewan Mendis made sure he reached the triple figures. He was unbeaten on 123 runs at stumps as Tamil Union posted 395 for 7 on day 2. Farveez Maharoof bagged 3 wickets for NCC. 

Early on, NCC posted 269 with valuable contributions from their top order. Chamika Karunarathne and Ramith Rambukwella bagged 3 wickets each.
