Sri Lanka U19 Women continued their impressive run in Dambulla as they defeated Australia U19 Women in the third T20 of the five-match series to take an unassailable 3-0 lead, with two matches still to play.
In a rain-shortened encounter at the Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, the Australian skipper Samara Dulvin won the toss and elected to bat first in the 16-overs-a-side contest.
The visitors managed to put up a competitive total of 100 for 6, with valuable contributions from Emily Powell, who top-scored with 32, and Lucy Finn, who chipped in with 31. For Sri Lanka, Limansa Thilakarathna and Aseni Thalagune were the standout bowlers, each claiming two wickets to keep the Australian batting unit in check.
Chasing 101 for victory, the Sri Lankan opening pair gave the perfect start. Sanjana Kavindi played a fluent knock of 36, while her partner Vimoksha Balasuriya added 25, setting the foundation for a smooth chase.
Despite losing a few wickets in the middle overs, the hosts reached the target in 15.1 overs with six wickets to spare, sealing the series 3-0 in commanding fashion.
With the series already decided, Sri Lanka will look to continue their dominance and aim for a clean sweep, while Australia will hope to bounce back when the fourth match is played on 26th September at the same venue.
