Mohomed Issadeen’s four goals were the least of worries for the Pelicans SC from Kurunegala as they were blown away 8-0 at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Issadeen’s four sets up Pelicans rout

The weakened Pelicans after few players were not available for the match conceded in the 9th minute giving Issadeen his first.

Nadeeka Pushpakumara doubled the lead in the 23rd minute and Issadeen added the 3rd four minutes later. Madushan De Silva the young striker who is in the Sri Lanka squad scored the fourth goal in the 30th minute with the Pelicans having no answer for the Army onslaught. It cooled down till half time as Pelicans went into the break with a lot to ponder about their defense.

However nothing worked as discussed for the Kurunegala lads in the second half as Issadeen started from where he left off in the first half scoring the 5th in the 55th minute. He was on the end of a P.T.Senanayaka delightful cross and volleyed with his left foot.

Senanayaka who had an outstanding game added the sixth goal in the 63rd minute from an Issadeen assist, justifying his Sri Lanka call up for the Seychelles tour. Issadeen scored his fourth and his teams 7th goal in the 70th minute. The Pelicans defense was all over the place and a goalkeeping error in the 88th minute summed up their performance. It looked like an easy save for the keeper from a H.Widuranga freekick but he let it slip through his hand giving Army the 8th goal.

Super Sun stun Colombo FC

Super Sun from Beruwala who had a horrible outing in last year’s Dialog Champions League stunned group winners from last year, Colombo FC 4-2 at the Vernon Fernando Stadium in Kalutara.

Nuwan Priyankara added the third in the 54th minute. Colombo FC staged a comeback scoring two goals in 6 six minutes. African Bodree Dimitri scored in the 68th minute and D.Kumara scored the second in the 74th minute setting up a tense finish. However as Colombo FC were searching for an equalizer pushing men forward Priyankara scored for Super Sun deep into injury time sending the fans into ecstasy.

Crystal Palace fight back to earn a point

Isaa Aba’s 80th minute strike gave newly promoted Crystal Palace their first point in the Dialog Champions League.

They drew 2-2 against last year’s Dialog Champions league runners-up Renown SC at the Jayathilaka Stadium in Nawalapitiya. Mohomed Safraz gave the visitors the lead in the 43rd minute.
