Vishad Randika’s fighting half century guided Colts towards a respectable 225 all-out on the opening day of their encounter against CCC.

Nisala Tharaka’s 26 was the second top score as Colts struggled right throughout bar Randika’s 68 runs.

Fresh from a decent series against the visiting Englishmen, Malinda Pushpakumara got back to what he does best as he captured 6/85 with his left arm spin. Ashan Priyanjan – who continues to improve as an all-rounder – also chipped in with two vital scalps.

CCC made a steady reply as they reached 29/0 when stumps were drawn, trailing Colts by just 196 runs.

NCC vs Tamil Union

NCC who were looking down the barrel for a second consecutive week, was pulled out of the woods once again by their crisis man Angelo Perera who hit a stunning 124.

His knock included 7 fours and 2 sixes as NCC made 296 all-out after being 177/7 at one stage.

Lahiru Udara, Upul Tharanga and Malinga Amarasinghe made useful 30s to help NCC towards respectability before Tamil Union got to stumps at 18/1 in reply.

Army vs Ports Authority

Dushan Vimukthi’s 136* not out was the highlight in the encounter between Army SC and Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

Lakshan Edirisinghe also hit a superb 81 as Army reached 285/5 at stumps on the opening day.

Left arm quick Chaminda Bandara – who made a couple of appearances for Sri Lanka – bowled best for Ports Authority capturing 4/51.

Tharindu Ratnayake was along the wickets again for SSC capturing 3/57 as Saracens made 293 all-out.

Sachitra Senanayake and Kasun Madusanka also picked up two wickets apiece for SSC.

Chilaw Marians vs Ragama CC

Oshada Fernando hit a splendid century while he got good company from skipper Harsha Cooray as Chilaw Marians looked set for a big score on the opening day.

After the dismissals of the Cooray for 95, Chilaw crashed to 281 all-out.

It was Ragama CC’s left arm spin twins who did the damage, as Amila Aponso and Sahan Nanayakkara shared 9 wickets among them.

Ragama CC made a bold reply of 70/2 with Janith Liyanage making 31 runs.

BRC vs Negombo CC

Hashen Ramanayake made a precious half century to guide BRC to 221 all-out, following in from his brilliant century last week.

Deshan Dias also hit 42 runs but the BRC outfit struggled against an experienced spin quartet of Negombo CC.

It was headed by Sri Lanka all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya who captured four wickets, while Upul Indrasiri picked up 3/49.

Negombo CC – promoted from tier B – made a statement with their reply as they ended the day on 82/0. Jayasuriya starred once again remaining unbeaten on 47* while former Sri Lanka U19 cap Lasith Croospulle was unbeaten on 33*.
