Ananda College rattled Trinity College, Kandy in their home soil with a resounding win as they beat the Lions by an innings & 104 runs in their traditional encounter which concluded today in Pallekelle.

The visitors, batting first made 333 for 6 wickets earlier in the game led by a blistering century by left-handed Sahan Suraweera. In reply the Lions were dismantled for a 102 in the first innings as Chamika Gunasekara and Asel Sigera grabbed three wickets apiece for the visitors.

Being asked to follow on, Trinity College once again failed with the bat as they were dismissed for a below-par 127 in 49 overs. Asel Sigera, continuing his good form with the ball, captured 6 wickets in the second innings to complete a match bag 9 for 63.

DS Senanayake College vs Zahira College

DS Senanayake College overcame Zahira College by 6 wickets in a low scoring group C encounter which was worked off today at Bloomfield grounds.

The hosts were 106 for 7 at the start of day two and were knocked over for 125 runs with Zahira College taking the first innings points. DS Senanayake fought back hard in the 2nd essay as they restricted the visitors to 114 inside 37 overs thanks to terrific spell of bowling by off- spinner Vihan Gunasekara. Chasing a victory target 115 Gunasekara steadied the ship for the hosts with an unbeaten 40 as they went on to register a resounding win.

Nalanda College missed out on a victory against Dharamaraja College as they took major honours in their group A game which was concluded today at the Dharmaraja grounds.

The hosts resuming on 67 for 3 were bundled out for 225 in reply to the 387 made by Nalandians thanks to a magnificent knock by Kasun Sandaruwan earlier in the game. However the hosts held on to a draw as they finished the day on 169 for 8. Umeshka Dilshan picked up a 5 wicket haul for the visitors in the second innings.
