The 46th Annual Limited Overs Encounter between Ananda College and Nalanda College ended in no result due to rain today (12th March) at SSC Grounds, Colombo.

Having won the toss, Ananda College invited the opposition to take the first lease of the wicket. The wicket-keeper batter Rusiru Vilochana and Yasiru Samarakoon gave Nalandians a solid start putting on 35 runs in 6.4 overs.
Vilochana who has been in great touch in the ongoing Schools season continued his merry way top scoring for Nalanda College with a knock of 46 runs off 66 balls with 7 fours. He and Nalanda No. 3 batter Sadew Samarasinghe added a vital 56-run stand for the 2nd wicket setting the foundation for a solid total.

Kushmitha Silva (41) and Sajitha Vithanage (28) also chipped with useful contributions down the order as Nalanda College posted 252/8 in the allotted 50 overs. Ayesh Shashimal was the pick of the bowlers for Ananda College as he snared 2 wickets for 39 runs.
Ananda College couldn’t begin their reply with the bat as rain washed out the rest of the play, resulting in a no-decision which meant the trophy was shared between the two teams.
