Trinity thrash Thurstan to advance in to Bowl Final.

Trinity College Kandy scored seven tries past helpless Thurstan College to make their way in to the final of the bowl segment in the “Milo” under 18 ‘Fifteen a side’ rugby tournament.

Trinity College kicked off from left to right and dominated proceedings from the start as they scored in the third minute of the game through a try from wingman D.G. Dange in the right corner. Fullback E.B. Edirisinghe failed to convert. 05-nil Trinity.

Trinity continued to dominate the game as they managed another two tries in the first half as Trinity hooker E.M.S.A. Ekanayake and scrumhalf A.H. Boyagoda scored their second and third tries respectively. Neither try was converted as the half time score registered 15-nil in at the end of the half.

Half time: Trinity 15-nil Thurstan. 

Trinity College powered over proceedings in the second half as winger D.G. Dange scored first points in the second half of the game as Trinity College had a firm grip on the game. Fly half L.V.A. Wijesuriya successfully converted the try. Trinity 22- Thurstan nil.

Trinity College did not rest on their laurels as they continued to pile pressure on the Thurstan defence and it paid off as fullback E.B. Edirisinghe and scrumhalf A.H. Boyagoda (his second) their teams fifth and sixth tries respectively. Fly half L.V.A. Wijesuriya converted the fifth try as fullback L.V.A. Wijesuriya converted the sixth try to put the beyond the Thurstan College boys. Trinity 36- Thurstan nil.

The Kandy lads rounded off a clinical performance with a penalty try as Thurstan College were penalized for consecutive infringements at the break down in their own 5meter line. The try was converted successfully as Trinity College ran out convincing winners to make their way in to the final of the Bowl segment in the “Milo” under 18 ‘Fifteen a side’ rugby tournament.
