Sri Lanka registered a convincing victory over Malaysia in the 3rd Quarter-Final of the Women’s Cricket Competition at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, securing their place in the semi-finals.

Having won the toss, Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu elected to bat first and her decision paid off as Sri Lanka posted a strong 160 runs for 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Athapaththu led the way with a blistering 63 off just 37 balls, smashing 7 fours and 3 sixes. She received excellent support from Kavisha Dilhari, who produced a quickfire 44 off 27 deliveries, including 6 boundaries.

With a challenging target of 161, Malaysia struggled against Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling attack and could only manage 74 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs.

Athapaththu, Dilhari and Mithali Ayodhya claimed two wickets apiece as Sri Lanka completed a comfortable 86-run victory.
