Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) and Moors Sports Club secured their places in the final of the SLC Major Club 50 Over Tournament 2026 after recording victories over Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) and Colts Cricket Club respectively in the Semi-Final encounters worked off today.
In the first Semi-Final played at the NCC Grounds in Colombo, SSC edged out CCC by just one run in a thrilling encounter.
Batting first, SSC posted a massive 336 runs for 4 wickets in their allotted 50 overs, powered by magnificent centuries from Avishka Fernando and Nipun Dhananjaya.
Fernando produced a dominant knock of 160 runs off 129 balls, smashing 15 fours and 5 sixes, while Dhananjaya contributed a superb 101 off 107 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes.

Chasing a daunting target of 337, CCC came agonisingly close to pulling off the chase but eventually finished just one run short.
Opening batter Nishan Madushka led the fightback with a magnificent 148 off 132 balls, including 9 fours and 5 sixes. Lasith Croospulle and Dhananjaya de Silva also struck valuable half-centuries, but CCC fell narrowly short as SSC secured a thrilling victory and a place in the final.
In the second Semi-Final at the P. Sara Oval Grounds in Colombo, Moors SC defeated Colts CC by 51 runs to seal the other spot in the final.
Moors SC, batting first, posted an imposing 344 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs, with opener Sithara Gimhana top-scoring with an excellent 92 off 91 balls, including 13 fours and a six.
Sadeera Samarawickrama, Sohan De Livera and Janishka Perera also made vital contributions with half-centuries as Moors SC built a formidable total.
Colts CC produced a strong batting effort in reply but found the target beyond their reach, eventually being bowled out for 293 runs.
Veteran batter Angelo Mathews led the chase with a fighting 89 off 89 balls, hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Muditha Lakshan and Sangeeth Cooray also added half-centuries.
