Galle Gallants registered a comfortable six-wicket victory over Colombo Kaps in Qualifier 2 of the Lanka Premier League 2026, played today (7th August) at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. With the win, Galle Gallants secured their place in the final of the tournament.
After winning the toss, Colombo Kaps elected to bat first but endured a disastrous start, losing five wickets for just 52 runs inside the first six overs. Ravindu Fernando and Rubin Hermann then steadied the innings with a crucial 70-run partnership off 43 balls for the sixth wicket.

Fernando led the recovery with a quick-fire 48 off 27 balls, smashing one four and five sixes, while Hermann contributed 45 off 33 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Malsha Tharupathi, batting at No. 8, added further impetus with a brisk 28 off 17 balls as Colombo Kaps recovered to post a competitive 176.
Sachindu Colombage and Charith Asalanka were the pick of the Galle Gallants bowlers, claiming two wickets apiece.

In reply, Galle Gallants made light work of the chase, reaching the target in the 19th over with six wickets in hand. The opening batter Sam Harper and No. 3 batter Charith Asalanka laid the foundation for the successful chase with an outstanding 126-run partnership off 85 balls for the second wicket.
Harper continued his fine form with a match-winning 77 off 51 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes. Asalanka provided excellent support with a composed 59 off 42 balls, including three fours and four sixes.
The dominant partnership put Galle Gallants firmly in control before they completed the chase comfortably to book their place in the tournament final.

Galle Gallants will now face Jaffna Kings in the LPL 2026 Final tomorrow night at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
