Pathum Nissanka and Matheesha Pathirana have been ruled out of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 due to injuries.
Both players are set to undergo surgery during the LPL window, making them unavailable for the tournament.
The absence of Nissanka and Pathirana will come as a significant blow to the player pool in the ongoing LPL 2026 Player Draft, with both players among the country’s most sought-after T20 talents.

Despite carrying the injury, Nissanka is expected to feature in Sri Lanka’s upcoming tour of the West Indies before undergoing the surgical procedure.
“Our priority is playing for Sri Lanka, so we have decided to use this period to ensure he recovers fully ahead of the important series against India and England,” Pathum Nissanka’s manager, Asanka Wijewardena, said.
