The 76th Battle of the Golds between St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa and Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa continued today (07th March) at the Tyronne Fernando Cricket Stadium in Moratuwa, with Prince of Wales producing a strong batting performance to secure the first innings lead.

Resuming their first innings on 6 without loss after St. Sebastian’s were bowled out for 214 on Day One, Prince of Wales College built their innings steadily through their top order.

Palingu Perera laid the early foundation with a patient 42 off 123 deliveries, while Sethika Wijethunga contributed 20 as the pair ensured a solid start for the Cambrians. However, it was Suwash Fernando who produced the standout performance with the bat, anchoring the innings with a composed knock of 77 from 145 deliveries.

Middle order contributions kept the scoreboard moving as Oshan De Silva added a valuable 29, while Kavinda Pasan Cooray chipped in with 15. Late cameos from Rusandu Silva (18) and Nadul Aponsu (21*) helped Prince of Wales push past St. Sebastian’s total.
