The 33rd All Island School Games Athletic Championship, which was held over 5 days at the Sugathadasa Stadium concluded today (5th) crowning St Peter’s and Walala A Ratnayake College as the overall winners of the Senior Boy’s & Girl’s categories respectively.
46 new meet records were established at the competition which surely is an encouraging sign for the future of sport in the country. 25 Boy’s records were established at the meet with Royal College and St Peter’s College Colombo responsible for 5 records each. Girls were responsible for 21 records with Museus College Colombo , Lyceum International Wattala and Lyceum international Nugegoda all notching up two records each.
Day 05 Final results

Peterites amazed a total of 165 points to be crowned the champions in the senior category while the traditional athletic powerhouse and the defending champions Maris Stella College had to be satisfied with a runner up finish with 88 points. Walala A Ratnayake College were placed third with 76 points.

Randi Cooray leaps to best jumper athlete (Girl’s) award
Triple Jumper Randi Cooray of Gateway College who won the Girl’s Under 20 triple jump event with an impressive jump of 12.74m was adjudged the Girl’s best athlete of the meet. Her performance also earned her the accolade of best jumper of the meet.

Sheshan Best Hurdler for the second year running

Western province continued their dominance in the overall provincial championship as they managed to clinch the championship with a landslide victory notching up 1440 points. Central was placed second with 505 points while North Western was placed third with 376 points.
