The Sri Lanka Development u16 team beat the touring English Bunbury u16 team by 104 runs at the Galle International Cricket Stadium earlier in the week and also securing the 4 match series 3 – 1.

The Sri Lanka Development team won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch that has proved to be a slow track in recent history. The Sri Lankan lads having a good series with the bat was led by Nalandian Avishka Perera who scored an unassailable 96 runs. He was also supported well by Kamil Mishara who contributed 48 runs, which enabled them to amass a total of 243/6 in their allotted 50 overs. The touring English boys would have had a higher target to chase if it wasn’t for the economical bowling of Jack Morley and Charles Worth with figures of 2/4 and 2/23 respectively.

The English Bunbury under 16’s coming into bat next had their work cut out with the bowling attack of the Sri Lanka Development under 16’s. With the Bunbury team losing wickets at regular intervals, it was Lewis Goldsworthy who steadied the boat with a resilient 40 runs. However as wickets started to tumble around Lewis, the pressure started to mount on the youngster as he was undone along with the hopes of a comeback from the English bowling attack was spearheaded by Sandun Mendis and Lahiru Madushanka.
