Ranfer Sprints regatta started as a ‘wild dream’ of Nirmal Ranasinghe and Rohan Fernando, the loyal members of the Sri Lankan Rowing fraternity.
The pioneers have established a practice that has successfully completed 25 years and going to test the speed of the oarsmen and women in the Beira waters for the 26th time this year on the 5th September 2015.
This is a unique and innovative event in the annual rowing calendar that was designed to give a distinct experience to the rowers as well as the spectators. Unlike the other regattas which make the view of the race dull to the audience, this is focused on engaging the spectators in the game from the beginning. The races will commence from the pier and end at the same. This regatta is a relay race between teams. A team consists of a scull, pair and coxed four with each boat scoring points.
