Opening batsman Thevindu Dickwella smashed a whirlwind century as Isipathana College defeated Thurstan College by 4 wickets to win their 40th annual limited-overs cricket encounter played for the W. A De Silva Memorial Challenge Trophy at P. Sara Oval on Sunday.

Chasing 203 runs to win, left-handed Dickwella reached his fifty in 18 balls and the magical three figures in just 59 balls. His 101 included 10 fours and 8 sixes as he simply took the game away from the Thurstanites. Isipathana reached the target inside 45 overs as they won the limited-overs encounter after 2016.

Earlier, Thurstan College, batting first, made just 202 for 9 from their allotted 50 overs. Skipper Jayavihan Mahavithana, Avishka Kaushalya and Dhanaja Silva contributed to the team score with 40+ scores. However, none of the batsmen made a fifty. Left-arm spinner Savindu Uthsara was the pick of the bowlers for Isipathana, taking 4 for 27.
