The Old Actonians’ Rugby Football Club (OARFC) will conduct the Eagles’ Rugby Sevens, the inter-school old boys’ rugby tournament, on 31st May at the Havelock grounds. In this elite event, 13 old boys’ teams from leading rugby-playing schools will be in the fray for glory.
The tournament is organized by the OARFC in collaboration with the official event management partner, Elite Ventures.
The draw was held during the press conference held at the Old Senanayakian’s Sports Club House, Colombo 07, and the pools are as follows.
Group A – St. Anthony’s College, Vidyartha College, Isipathana College and Wesley College
Group B – St. Benedict’s College, D. S. Senanayake College and St. Peter’s College
Group C – Royal College, Zahira College and St. Thomas” College, Matale
Group D – Kingswood College, St. Joseph’s College and Mahanama College
By exhilarating the rugby fans across the island, a “Rugby Legends’ Exhibition Match” between Kandy Legends and Colombo Legends has also been added to the fixtures. The much-awaited game will feature some of Sri Lanka’s finest retired rugby talents, including Fazil Marija, Nilfer Ibrahim, Pradeep Liyanage, Ashen Karthalies, and many more. The match playing jerseys of the respective teams were also displayed and handed-over during the press conference.
Though the competitiveness of the tournament is expected at an esteemed level with the participation of veteran specialists of the game, there will be plenty of entertainment for the spectators, players, and their families with a carnival atmosphere.
