Lumbini College, Colombo and Isipathana College, Colombo worked off day-two of their traditional fixture of Singer U19 division I cricket tournament 2018/19 at Colts Cricket Club grounds today (14th December)

Following a disappointing day-one, Lumbini College walked out at 0 for no loss on day-two. Their woes from day-one, where they were bowled out for a 78 in reply to Isipathana’s 218, looked likely to continue with a hint of moisture in the wicket early on in the day. Left-arm seamer Dinath Dissanayake castled Pasindu Anagipura early on in the day to create the early inroads into the Lumbini second innings.

Saindu Uthsara joined the party in the very next over as he trapped Tharusha Nimhara in front of the stumps with just his fourth ball of the day. From then on, it was a spinners show as skipper, Madushika Sandaruwan and Savindu Uthsara shared 9 wickets between them.

Another dreadful day of batting for Lumbini as they were undone by the double-greens inside the first session. Skipper, Dushan Fernando made 25 runs with 4 fours and a six but did not show any intend to save the game as he kept slogging blindly till he floated one to Kaliq Amath at long on.

The two left-arm spinners were exceptional and showed a lot of maturity in bowling with their pace variations and field settings. Isipathana was also sharp in the field with some excellent close-in catches and ground fielding.
