Mahanama College came back strong to restrict the Thurstan batting line-up to 72 for 9 after getting bowled out for 147 in their Singer U19 Division I two-day Pre-Quarter Final which commenced today at the Thurstan grounds. Meanwhile, the Ananda vs St Benedict’s traditional encounter was interrupted by rain.

Thurstan College vs Mahanama College

Mahanama skipper won the toss and decided to bat first on a solid batting track at the Thurstan College grounds. Skipper Hashan Nelika was the only man who got to the 40s as the visitors succumbed to a modest 147 to a disciplined Thurstan bowling attack.  Big-match hero Sawan Prabash was impressive once again as he took 3 scalps to restrict Mahanama together with skipper Nipun Lakshan who grabbed 3 wickets.

In reply, the Thurstan batting got things wrong as skipper Heshan Nileka wrecked them with a superb bowling effort to restrict them to 72/9 at stumps to take honours on the opening day.
