A couple of U13 group matches were concluded on the 1st and 2nd of January.

Mahinda College, Galle vs Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa

Mahinda College, Galle played Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa and having won the toss, Joseph Vaz put the visitors into bat. Mahinda College scored a total of 170 runs all out in 54.4 overs. The top scorer for Mahinda was Daminda Induwara, who made 76 runs. For Joseph Vaz it was Vishwa Rajapakshe who set things up with 5 wickets for 22 runs.

In reply Joseph Vaz could only manage 148 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the 35 overs they faced as the game ended in a draw. Vishwa Rajapakshe the hero with the bowl for Joseph Vaz also delivered with the bat, making an unbeaten 51. Menisha Perera and Navindu Rashmika chipped in with 31 and 26 runs respectively.

St. Peter’s College, Colombo vs Debarawewa National School

The other match was played between St.Peter’s College and Debarawewa National School. Deberawewa inserted the Pete’s into bat which turned out to be a bad decision as St. Peter’s were able to score a total of 261 runs for the loss of 3 wickets at which time they declared their innings. Vishen Halambage, Gavin Karunalage, and Nimuthu Gunawardhana scored half centuries. Dembarawewa were dismissed for 128 runs in 53 overs, Sasika and Hasila Abhilash scored 31 and 28 runs each. Shanon Rodrigo and Vishen Halambage picked up 5 wickets between them.
