St. Joseph Vaz thrash De Mazenod by 8 wickets

Two matches of the Singer Schools U19 Tournament kicked off today, while the games between De Mazenod and St. Joseph Vaz & President College and St. Joseph’s ended today(07). 

De Mazenod vs St. Joseph Vaz

St. Joseph Vaz completed their good work from day one as they went on to complete a stunning eight wicket win over De Mazenod College, Kandana.

Resuming from 222/5 St. Joseph Vaz College went on to make 286 all out before Dhananjaya Perera bowled a dream spell capturing eight wickets for just 55 runs. He ended with a match bag of ten wickets after picking up two wickets in the first innings.

Roshitha Senevirathne hit a fighting half century for De Mazenod to take their second innings total over the 200 run mark, but it only set up a victory target of just 58 runs for the opponents to get.

St. Joseph Vaz cruised to the win in just eleven overs for the loss of two wickets.

President vs St. Joseph’s 

Ganidu Dewmina produced a defiant knock of 87 to stop the Josephians from what looked like a certain outright win at Darley Road today.

The Josephians resuming overnight from 159/3 went on to declare their innings at 342/6 with Dineth Madurawela making a superb century which was incidentally his fourth century of the season.

With more than 60 overs to be batted out, the President’ batsmen led by Dewmina defied the Josephian bowlers to end the day on 225/9.

Richmond vs Dharmaraja

Richmond took control of their game against Dharmaraja after they reduced them to 84/7, after making 321 all out in their first innings in just 63.5 overs.

Avindu Theekshana starred once again with a brilliant century while Dananjaya Lakshan made a half century for the boys from down south.

Gihan Vitharana picked up 8/124 for Dharmaraja keeping the Richmond batsmen in check for long periods of time.

Anuradhapura Central vs Moratu Vidayalaya

Sachin Randima’s 93 helped Anuradhapura Central rack up 270/9 dec while Dilshan Lakshitha also chipped in with a half century.

Maduranga Srichandrarathne picked up 3 wickets as Anuradhapura Central took control of the game when the stumps were drawn for day one.

Sheada Zoysa looked good for his 35 but fell to Srichandrarathne just before close.
