St.Anthony’s beat Trinity in a nail biting game

St.Anthony’s College, Kandy overcame Trinity College, Kandy by 12 runs in the Singer U15 Division 1 Tournament 2017/18 pre quater-finals which was worked off today at Trinity College Grounds, Asgiriya.


Electing to bat first, in this very important game, the young Anthonians folded under pressure as their partnerships were not quite long.
Trinity was able to keep St.Anthony’s batsmen under 163 for 44.4 overs.I.Bandara was the chief destroyer as he picked up 3 crucial wickets to trouble the young Eagles.  
Chasing a modest target to enter the quater-finals, the Trinitians began the chase perfectly until they lost Ananda Kumara for 62 runs.  The Anthonians came back to the game with that crucial wicket by Nimnaka Jayathilake show casing his usual talents. The Trinitans were all out for less than 50 runs. 
St. Anthony’s College was able to keep Trinity under 151 for 41.5 overs and qualified to the quater-finals in a low scoring game with a nail biting finish.
