Sri Lanka secure semi-final spot

Sri Lanka continued there winning run in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals, when they beat UAE by 8 wickets in their second game worked off at the P. Sara Oval today.

Sri Lanka skipper Dinuk Wickramanayake won the toss and decided to field first and his bowlers backed his decision brilliantly to restrict UAE to just 133/4 in their 20 overs.

Akthab Cader bowled a hostile opening spell conceding just 13 runs in his three overs while also picking up the first wicket to fall. Vikum Sanjaya and Amila Aponso also picked up a wicket apiece for the hosts while Mohammed Nael top scored with 31 for UAE.

Sri Lanka were hardly troubled in their run chase as they raced to their target of 134 in just 13.3 overs. Lahiru Milantha blasted 47 off just 30 balls inclusive of 2 sixes and 6 fours while Hashan Dumindu played a solid supporting hand chipping in with an unbeaten 40.

Wicket keeper batsman Manoj Sarathchandra was named man of the man match for his brilliance in the field with two catches and one run out to go along with his unbeaten 23*.

Sri Lanka have booked their place in the semifinals with a game to go after this crushing win, while the second semifinal spot in their group is up for grabs when Bangladesh take on UAE tomorrow in a do or die encounter.
