The Girls under 19 ‘B’ Division All Island Basketball Championship finals and consolation finals were concluded at the General Sir John Kothalawala Indoor Basketball courts. CIS grabbed the championship while Ladies’ College grabbed the 2nd runner-up by defeating Dharmasoka College.

Finals: Colombo International School (CIS) v Sirimavo Bandaranayke Vidyalaya (SBV)

Both teams stepped into the court with many hopes as they wanted to take the championship home. SBV led the game by 3 points into lemons as the score board read 25-22.  

Leia Hamza top scored in the game by adding 32 points for CIS as her team mate Hikari Hatta scored 8 points. Kiyara Malmi and Vinuli Athukorala scored 14 and 8 points respectively for Sirimavo Vidayalaya.

Even though Sirimavo did have a slight upper hand as the first half ended, the second half was a tight one. Sirimavo went on to add 13 points in reply to the 28 points of CIS. The early lead of Sirimavo was not enough to win the game since CIS registered their victory in the final quarter with a considerable margin of 12 points as the final score board read 38-50.

Third Place Play-off: Ladies College (LC) v Dharmasoka College – Amabalangoda (DC)

In the consolation final, Ladies’ College comfortably led the game by seven points into the half time as the score board read as 30-23.

Dulinika Bulumulla top scored in the game with 15 points for Ladies’ College while Kiara Benjamin added 10 more points to her team. Ravini Shashika and Oshini Dilakshika added 14 and 11 points respectively for Dharmasoka College.

Continuing dominance into the game Ladies’ College piled up another 31 points in the second half. Dharmasoka too added 29 points. The thirteen-point lead in the first half helped Ladies’ to be on the safe side of the match and take the 2nd runner-up trophy home. The final score card read in favour of them 61-52.
